Listening to: Ai wo Shiru Kisetsu by Yui Horie & Sakura Nogawa
It’s been a bit since I did a screencap/anime update I guess? But I guess this time I have quite a bit to talk about anime-wise.
Where to start, really? I guess with Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai. Honestly, what an amazing series, even better than Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. The outcome really took me by surprise, honestly. I couldn’t believe Takano’s role in the anime. I also couldn’t wait for Hanyuu’s appearance since she’s just too adorable (still though, Rika is a much cuter loli, hehe). I never was able to think of seiyuu Yui Horie as being able to be scary before, but when Hanyuu got angry, I was pretty scared. >_< The ending, though intense and breath-taking, was especially prodigious, the way everyone banded together in Rika’s time of need, the way Rika didn’t give up on believing she would break the time-loop, the way Hanyuu started to have faith…it was all astounding. I also watched the special for Higurashi (Nekogoroshi-Hen) which was okay for being a special. I just can’t wait until Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei!
Next, my good friend Angelo told me I should watch an anime called Claymore. I was very hesitant to watch this anime he recommended, you see, because the anime I tend to watch consist of themes such as moe, slice-of-life, fantasy, romance, loli, comedy, magical girl, school, and other such themes; Claymore, I knew, was nothing like any anime I had ever seen. Reluctantly I downloaded Claymore, and to my surprise, I was hooked from the very first damn episode and ended up finishing it in three days. The storyline was just completely amazing, the characters were easy to fall in love with, and the conflict was like none I’d ever seen. Not to mention that the animation was so beautiful that I didn’t take any screencaps; it was just one of those anime where the animation is so good that you just can’t take screencaps. The end battle between the almost-awakened Clare and Priscilla was enough to make me sweat. I plan on reading the manga hopefully sometime soon. Claymore was absolutely the best anime I’ve seen in probably two or three years. It showed me that it’s good to step out of the norm every once in a while.
Also I’ve completed a few more anime since my last screencap update. First I’ll describe Asatte no Houkou. It’s a story about a young girl named Karada who makes a wish on a wishing stone to become older so as not to be a burden on her older brother, but the wish comes true; Karada becomes older while her brother’s ex-girlfriend, Shouko Nogami, becomes the age that Karada was. This anime was just okay; nice animation and everything, but the storyline just didn’t capture me.
Next I watched an OVA called True Love Story, which I won’t even bother going into detail about because it just wasn’t that great. Today I finished an anime called Binbou Shimai Monogatari, which was about two sisters, Asu and Kyou Yamada, who are very poor; their mother died when Asu was a baby and their father left them because of gambling. The story is basically their day-to-day life and the incidents they encounter together as they struggle to make ends meet. It was an okay series with an okay storyline. Lastly I finished the second season of Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan. I wasn’t nearly as pleased with the second season (if you can even call it that) than I was with the first season. It just seemed entirely too rushed to me, but I took screencaps anyway.
Lastly I’ll go over what anime I am currently watching. The first one I started watching is ef – a tale of melodies. I’m very pleased with this anime, just as I was with ef – a tale of memories. I was very glad to learn that Chihiro is in this anime as well, because I became very attached to Chihiro-chan in ef – a tale of memories. I won’t be taking any screencaps for this series because it’s another of those series like Claymore where you just can’t. Next I watched the first part of the OVA for Seto no Hanayome. Even though I never finished the TV series for Seto no Hanayome, I still wanted to watch the OVA. I really liked that they did a spoof of Bruce Willis in it, as I am a huge fan of him. XD Lastly, I am also watching an anime called Nanaka 6/17. It’s about a girl named Nanaka Kirisato who, after getting into a fight with her friend, falls down a flight of stairs, hits her head, and because of the accident reverts to the mind of a six-year-old. I like it so far.
Anyway, enough ranting! Screencap time, starting with Asatte no Houkou.
